Farewell to Innocence

This is another poem that will be up for quite a bit of tweaking after NaPo...

The summer breeze lisps in a young girls ear
and teases her hair as the sun tries to kiss her face,
but she turns away and steps into the shadows;

Today she treads lightly for fear of prying eyes,
and her past she has scattered far and wide
like ashes thrown to the wind;

Through the suns tears her shameful heart
blows a kiss to days gone by,
a farewell to innocence .
