Goodbye

Silver frames her face,
and tired eyes watch
as children grow and
seasons change.

Decades of photographs
cover her kitchen table
and stories are told
with each.

Places been, things seen
and people met all
captivate her audiences
young and old.

But now tired blue eyes
they watch once familiar
faces fade into a sea of
unfamiliar visitors.

Cherry lips that used to
share secrets and tall
tales now pale and never
speaking.

Silver frames her face
and tired blue eyes are
closed by a lost daughter
as a family says goodbye.
