Living

Her frozen toes can be seen
poking through cracked shoe leather, these shoes have seen many roads and known many lives.

"One man's trash is another man's treasure."

Her journey began many months ago
a journey to prove she had lived
before she died.

"Anyway, anyhow, anywhere."

To be alone on her own, away from home, that was her only goal. But as she trudges along flooded city streets she realizes, with a wry smile, that happiness found her like Santa on Christmas eve, every night slipping some under her head like the tooth fairy.

"Who wants to be a millionaire?"

Feeling superior to those she left behind as she lies below another city bridge her mind wanders through cliched reality. Her shoes, a symbolic reminder of a life explored through the testing of kindness, mercy and grace.

"Through many dangers toils and snares I have already come. Twas grace that brought me safe thus far and grace will lead me home"
